Sightseeing boats make regular trips, searching for WHALES offshore and visit the "Seal Colony" at ROBBERG, which is a wonderful "Nature Reserve" offering hiking trails and breath-taking views.

Knysna - The place of wood

Most names here originate from the early inhabitants, the "KHOISANS", or also Tsitsikamma, which means "much or clear water". The KNYSNA LAGOON boasts two cliffs separating the lagoon from the ocean, commonly known as "The Knysna Heads". T Knysna Heads watch over the OCEAN ENTRANCE !A short drive to a majestic VIEWPOINT at the peak of the Knysna heads, overlooks the ocean and Knysna Lagoon, and boasts stunning panoramic views of Knysna. Stroll along the "Knysna Water-front" with its unique shops, enjoy fresh oysters, from the lagoon, or book a "Sundowner Sailing Trip" with snacks and champagne, just lovely.

Sedgefield & Wilderness

Named after King George III, George, central to the Garden Route, has retained some its beautiful architecture, like THE OLD DROSDY BUILDING, built in 1811, which is now a hotel. THE BOYS HIGHSCHOOL, now the local "Arts Theatre",a few old churches, some of which have been declared National Heritage sites. George is the largest town in the Garden Route and is considered the business hub of the Garden Route and in addition to maintaining its heritage, George also offers a modern shopping experience atthe many markets as well as the largest mall in the Southern Cape area, called The Garden Route Mall.

Oudtshoorn

"The OSTRICH KINGDOM": Take the scenic "Outeniqua Pass" up from George to Oudtshoorn, visit a "Showfarm" like "Safari Ostrich Farm", get a "CRASH-COURSE" about THE BIGGEST FLIGHTLESS BIRD, learn the story of the "Feather Barons" who became rich at the beginning of the century, when fashion in Europe demanded lots of Ostrich Feathers and lost it all, at the start of the 1stWorld War! Round your visit up with a lunch or dinner and enjoy the unique delicacy of Ostrich Meat.

Visit the famous "CANGO CAVES" -20 min away, which was partly home of the "Khoisan People". The OLD HISTORIC, CHARMING LITTLE HARBOUR TOWN. There is much to do and see, and we are sure you will spend a lot of time there, e.g. at "The Point " with the old LIGHTHOUSE and the "KHOISAN CAVE" where you get an impression of how the original KHOISAN's lived.

From here a very scenic KLIP WALK leads to Dana Bay, approx. 2 Hrs. The MARITIME MUSEUM is a MUST for every visitor. Climb down and around in the REPLICA of the BARTHOLOMEUS DIAZ ship which landed in Mossel Bay 1488.The Portuguese rebuilt the shipin 1988, some 500 years later and sailed it to Mossel Bay in 1989.

One can only admire the bravery of the early sailors ! "The 0ld Post Tree" a 500 Years old Milkwood Tree, was used by the early sailors to leave messages, in an old boot, for friends! There is a POSTBOX in the shape of a boot. You mayobtain a special stamp from "The old Post Tree" when you post your mail here. Behind the tree is a wonderful "Shell Display" and Aquarium, displaying the small creatures from our TWO Oceans. ENJOY the freshest SEAFOOD in one of the many, really good, RESTAURANTS.
